Other Exhibits
Many of our specimens are on display. Some are exhibited for short periods, a mineral show is a good example. Others are on view for long periods of time, a good example is the large 'permanent' Museum exhibit.
The specimens are selected for relevance and quality, as long as they are sturdy enough to withstand such exposure.
Light and high humidity can affect certain minerals, and aspects of the display environment are closely monitored to prevent deterioration of display specimens .
The beautiful eurypterid specimen shown here was donated to the Museum by the Paleontological Society of Austin to honor the dedicated service of one of their members, Jean Wallace.
