History of the Garden

The Hartman Prehistoric Garden was developed over time as it became clear that the dinosaur trackways uncovered in 1992 were deteriorating due to exposure. With their minds on preservation, the Austin Area Garden Council began raising funds for a garden to commemorate the discovery site and to educate the public about the history of plants in our region.
