A Myotis velifer incautus
bat, known as the "cave myotis" or "Mexican brown
bat;" River Styx Cave, Northwest Texas. This species is beneficial
to humans,
eating many small pest insects during their nightly flights. Found in many
Texas caves, their colonies number from a few up to 20,000. This species
has
been of many caves by vandals.
