A fried egg stalagmite (pronounced
in Texas);
Natural Bridge Caverns, near New Braunfels, Comal
County. Water dripping from a high ceiling hits the floor
with such force that it splatters the drop over a wide area,
forming a flattened stalagmite. Humic acid from soil stains the calcite with a yolk color
