November’s creek cleanup was a great success! We had over 200 volunteers, not counting the 15 or so who helped coordinate and organize the event this time. Our volunteers pulled 90 bags of trash out of the creek and 16 bags of recycling totaling over 1100 lbs. We also found a bbq grill, mattresses, furniture and a decent amount of scrap metal. This cleanup also extended to our Adopt a Street location, Whitaker Field and other areas on campus.
Thanks especially to Carin Peterson, Ryan Green, Jason Shoumaker, Rachel LeBansky, Laura Davis, Fred Simmons, Tracy Tipping, Wolfgang Bollich and Dennis Nolan for helping to organize and work the event. We are also thankful to John Nelson and Charlie Jamison for getting their feet wet and hands dirty for the sake of the creek! A final thank you to Texas French Bread and Texas Memorial Museum for donating food and coffee for all of our hungry volunteers!
