Vertebrate Paleontology Laboratory: Collections

Recent Vertebrate Collection

This growing collection consists of approximately 7,000 osteological specimens of extant vertebrates from all over the world. Its greatest strength is in the mammals of North America, but many other vertebrate groups are represented as well. Unlike many Recent collections, which contain only skulls, our Recent collection has many complete skeletons. It is one of the best resources in the region for studying postcranial material.
