Quarterly Chime From Tower Mute for Work Safety |
| The bells atop the University tower which every quarter
hour chime out the Westminster Peal have been temporarily silenced. According to Carl J. Eckhardt, director of the physical plant, the chimes will not be in use while there is danger of startling workmen doing exterior repair on the tower. The working period for these repairs extends to fifty days and Eckhardt said the chimes would remain muted for at least the first part of that period. Daily Texan. March 17, 1966. |
