Description: 40 Acres Fest is a spirited celebration that offers students an opportunity to represent and unite their campus through leadership, tradition and diversity. The Fest features carnival-type booths sponsored by registered student organizations and performances from local bands. In the past we have featured attractions such as zip lines, rock climbing, dunking booths, Dance Dance Revolution and an �¢ï¿½ï¿½8 Mile�¢ï¿½ï¿½ tournament style drum war. Our goal this year is to expand on our past success, but also implement new ideas to keep the Fest fresh and exciting. This year�¢ï¿½ï¿½s fest will take place on April 5, 2008.
We are seeking committee chairs who want Forty Acres Fest 2008 to be an amazing success. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of and/or experience with the Fest in addition to being dedicated to strengthening their leadership abilities. This year we will be focusing on fostering student leadership and growing in our capacity to motivate all committee members.
If you would like to become involved in the largest student-run event, please complete the attached application and return it to the Student Events Center front desk in the Union (4th floor). Descriptions of the committees, a brief overview of their scopes, and an organizational chart can be found on the following pages. If you have any questions about responsibilities or duties, please contact Eric or Ana. The application is due on Friday, September 21st 2007 by 5 p.m. Candidates will be notified of the status of their application no later than September 23th, 2007. Finalists for the co-chair positions will be asked to schedule an interview at that time. Interviews will take place from September 24th through the 27th.
