Madrigal Directors & Costume Designer

Each year the University of Texas Madrigal Dinner Committee looks for directors for their choir and the actors, and a costume designer. Every fall, MDC brings together theater, music, and a four course meal with dedicated students and an amazing staff. This could be your chance to be part of it.

Applications for directors or the costume designer were due in early May 2009. Below is some information you might find useful if you are interested for next year (Fall 2010).

Both acting and choir directors must be available for rehearsals at least three nights a week. Rehearsals are scheduled as follows:

Requirements for costume designer are as follows: There will be a "sewing circle" every Sunday from 1pm to 7pm when rehearsals start. You must be available these days. Performers and the production team are asked to help every week, and they do not disappoint.

The show usually occurs in mid to late November. The week of the show will require attendence of several tech and dress rehearsals, so everyone must be available all day Sunday and every night until the end of the show. The costume designer will be needed backstage for these dates, along with the tech rehearsals starting the Saturday before show. Any complications with the schedule must be addressed on the application.

Both directors are allowed to have assistant directors, but this is up to the directors themselves.
