“I appreciated the scholarship funding I received to conduct research around the country…”
How did your BDP experience influence your career path and interests?
The Bridging Disciplines Programs encouraged me to volunteer in the community, developed my research skills in community affairs, and increased my cultural awareness in working with people from different backgrounds.
What do you value most about your BDP experience?
I appreciated the scholarship funding I received to conduct research around the country with Dr. Geoffrey Tumlin and Dr. Edmond Gordon. I would encourage future BDP students to use any scholarships they receive to travel the world and do research overseas with a professor.
In what ways did an interdisciplinary education prepare you for what you are currently doing?
It prepared me to be a global citizen. Because of my interdisciplinary education, I have learned Chinese, I fluently speak and write in Brazilian Portuguese, and I am comfortable speaking Spanish. All of these came from working with faculty that had tremendous experiences in Asia and South America.
