Discuss your general career path since graduating from UT.

Before graduating from UT I knew I wanted to go into national service, so I applied for an AmeriCorps VISTA position with the Texas Hunger Initiative. I was hired before I graduated, which was very exciting. My position as a field organizer primarily entails developing macro-level collaboration and solutions to ending hunger in America and the state of Texas. After my VISTA term, I plan to attend graduate school for international affairs with a focus on international security.

How did your BDP experience influence your career path and interests?

The Human Rights and Social Justice BDP really defined my interest in international security and conflict resolution. I believe some of the worst human rights abuses occur during armed conflict. In the future, I want to prevent or mitigate the effects of armed conflict through negotiations, international policy, and post-conflict reconciliation.
