Satina Stewart
Radio-Television-Film, Graduated Spring 2008
Satina interned through the Digital Media Leadership Program with Pulse Interactive. In this internship, she had the opportunity to utilize her digital media skills and contribute toward the creation of video games. After graduation, Satina attended Indiana University to work toward a graduate degree in Telecommunications.
Whitney Rosenthal
Radio-TV-Film, Graduated Spring 2007
Whitney complemented her major in Radio-TV-Film with a BDP in Digital Arts and Media in order to explore her interests in flash web design, computer science, graphics, and digital photography. Whitney completed an internship in film and electronic media. Post-graduation, she plans to move to New York or Los Angeles to work in the film, web design, or music industry.
Alicia Cho
Finance and French, Graduated Summer 2006
Through the Digital Arts and Media BDP, Alicia had the opportunity to take courses in 3-D animation, Web Design, and Sound Design for Film and Video. She worked as an Editorial Assistant at The Orphanage, a visual effects company in San Francisco, where she assisted on projects such as Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire and Aeon Flux, and she worked as a set intern on Mike Judge’s Idiocracy. After she graduated from UT, Alicia moved to Los Angeles, where she found work through contacts she made during her BDP connecting experience. She has worked in production and reshoots for television shows such as My Name is Earl, Heroes, and The Ghost Whisperer, and for films including Live Free or Die Hard and The Night Watchman. Alicia is one of 17 people who have been accepted to the prestigious Director’s Guild of America Assistant Director training program, where, after 400 days in a work rotation program, she will be in the Director’s Guild of America as a 2nd Assistant Director. She would be happy to talk with other BDP alumni about what an Assistant Director does, or about the film and television production field. Contact the BDP office for information.
David Drell
Radio-Television-Film, Graduated Spring 2006
The Digital Arts and Media BDP allowed David to finally put a name to the educational path he was following. He hopes to use the experience he gained through the program to propel him towards a career in the movie industry doing 3D Animation. Beginning in the Fall of 2007, David will continue his education in pursuit of such a career, attending Texas A&M’s Master of Science in Visualization Sciences graduate program.
Adria Jessie
Corporate Communications, Graduated Spring 2006
The BDP allowed Adria to complete internships with Austin Free-Net and Goodwill Industries. Adria was also the Chair of the UT Blacks Online Committee of the Multicultural Information Center within the African American Affairs Agency. After graduation, Adria moved to New York and interned for the Saatchi and Saatchi advertising agency.
Omar Chatriwala
Journalism, Graduated Spring 2005
Omar joined the BDP to expand his “new media” horizons. After he graduated from UT, Omar moved to California, where he is the Web Editor for SqueezeOC, a lifestyle magazine covering Orange County.
Kevin Hsu
Biology and Plan II, Graduated Spring 2004
Through the BDP, Kevin worked at Austin Free-Net in the summer of 2002 to design touch-screen kiosks with health information in the Austin WIC centers. He has also worked with Dr. Patricia Stout in researching how “mental illnesses” are represented and constructed in emergent technologies such as the Internet and video/computer games. After he graduated, Kevin went on to pursue an M.A./Ph.D. program in Media and Communication at the European Graduate School, University of Valais, Switzerland.
Sarah Tierney
Government, Computer Science and Plan II, Graduated Spring 2004
As an undergraduate at UT, Sarah worked in the artificial intelligence laboratory with Dr. Bruce Porter, worked with Dr. Gary Chapman at the LBJ School researching emerging technologies that could be beneficial to non-profit and low-budget organizations, and worked with Dr. Joseph Straubhaar in the RTF department on international communications policy. As part of her Connecting Experiences, she had the opportunity to travel to the UN World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva, Switzerland last December. Sarah was awarded the Gates Fellowship and attended the University of Cambridge to pursue a Masters degree in Development Studies in fall 2004. After completing this one-year program, Sarah attended Stanford Law School where she specialized in technology law and policy.
