Center for Strategic Advising

The Center for Strategic Advising fosters an environment in which undergraduate students are able to explore their educational options in the greater context of their ever-developing life plans and goals. Through purposeful and intentional interaction with academic advising professionals, students learn about themselves, their capabilities, and their values, on the path to determining a choice of major.

Strategic academic advising is more than simply course selection. Advisors help to facilitate the process of developing educational plans and goals by challenging and supporting students at the university. Students acquire the skills necessary to make well-informed decisions, think critically, and solve problems. Students also learn how to express themselves and how to ask questions to get the information or assistance they seek.

The Center for Strategic Advising provides academic advising, including major exploration assistance to undecided and transitional students at the university. The Center works closely with other advising centers in each of the other academic units, the Career Exploration Center, First-year Interest Groups, and Undergraduate Research.

Parents of students who are enrolled in the School of Undergraduate Studies are invited to sign up for monthly updates on activities and opportunities in Undergraduate Studies.
