How many years have you been involved with the FIG Program and in what capacity?
Two years. I was a FIG student in the 2004-2005 school year. Since then, I have been in training all of spring 2006 to be a mentor this fall.
Why is this program important to you?
It is one of the primary reasons for my success at UT. This program is amazing and I love the passion that I see in the individuals who are directing the program.
How has it helped you or changed your life in any way?
I am pretty confident that I would not have started as well as I did at UT if I had not signed up with a FIG. I met most of my best friends there and it really took away a lot of the pressures of doing things on my own. I would love to be a part of another student’s FIG experience. Not to mention all of the things that I can learn now that I am a mentor.
Describe one of your most memorable FIG moments.
One of my most memorable moments was one of the first days in FIG class when we had to pick an adjective to go with our names. I didn’t know it then, but those people would be my friends for a while.
Describe the program in one word and explain why you chose that word.
Unimaginable. I chose this word because there are no statistics that could possibly measure the impact that the FIG program has on students’ lives. No matter how much you say about it or try to explain its importance, you can never quite grasp everything that FIG provides for every single person.
