BDP Adds New Program

The Bridging Disciplines Programs (BDP) offers a new interdisciplinary certificate. Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship combines courses from Business, Communication, Fine Arts, and Liberal Arts with a connecting experience to teach students about innovation and commercial ventures. UGS Council Hosts Town Meeting

On November 23, the School of Undergraduate Studies Council (UGSC) invites all UGS students to attend the school’s first Town Hall Meeting. Dean Paul Woodruff will provide remarks and answer questions.(read more)

Honors Center Offers Opera Tickets

Tickets to the Austin Lyric Opera performance of La Bohème will be available to students in the honors community. The University Honors Center provides tickets to local and visiting performances complete with a special academic pre-performance seminar or lecture. (read more)

Dean Woodruff hosts UGS family breakfast

Families of Undergraduate Studies' first class of students joined Dean Paul Woodruff for breakfast Saturday morning in the UT Tower's historic and beautiful Life Science Library. Assistant Dean for Advising David Spight and advisors from the Center for Strategic Advising also attended. (read more)

Bridging Disciplines Programs adds concentration in Human Rights and Social Justice

The Bridging Disciplines Programs (BDP) are pleased to announce a new certificate in Human Rights and Social Justice. The nineteen-hour program will introduce students to the interdisciplinary study and practice of human rights at home and around the world. (read more)

University Lecture Series wraps up third year

The University Lecture Series completed its second and final large lecture with Dean Paul Woodruff's How to Spot a Tyrant When You See One. The series also includes smaller linked events that will continue into the fall.(read more)

Dean Woodruff to lecture on tyranny & freedom in theater

Dean of Undergraduate Studies Paul Woodruff will speak tonight on tyranny, freedom, and democracy in theater. Masters students from the Department of Theater and Dance will perform scenes from _Antigone_, _Measure for Measure_, and _A Doll's House_. (read more)

University Lecture tonight

Dean Thomas Gilligan will speak about the factors that contribute to global economic growth, and reveal our role in the miraculous process. Tonight's lecture is the first of two in the third annual University Lecture Series. (read more)

UGS professors receive Regents' awards

Over half of the Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award recipients who teach at UT Austin are involved with Undergraduate Studies. (read more)

First-year students read up for Reading Round-Up

Over 850 students will gather the day before fall classes begin to meet with outstanding UT Austin faculty. Incoming first-year students will discuss their optional summer reading with a small group of peers and the professor who recommended their book as a must-read. (read more)
