Amy Forestell wins Interdisciplinary Teaching Award

The School of Undergraduate Studies recently awarded graduate student Amy Forestell the Signature Course Interdisciplinary Teaching award. She won for her short essay on the challenges and rewards of working with first-year students and interdisciplinary curriculum. The piece was submitted as part of her application for a teaching certificate, earned after her work as a TA for a Large-Format Signature Course.

The certificate, given by the UT Learning Center (UTLC) and the School of Undergraduate Studies, recognizes the unique work of a Signature Course TA, which includes helping first-year students develop college level skills in writing, speaking and discussion. Signature Course TAs commit more time to training, some of which includes mid-semester feedback from students and feedback from UTLC staff.
The award will be presented at the new faculty luncheon on March 27th at the AT& T conference center.
