The fourth annual Research week offered over 40 unique ways to find out about research opportunities all over campus. The event brings together programs in the various colleges and schools that showcase undergraduate research and creative activity. It also highlights initiatives like EUREKA, a School of Undergraduate Studies website that compiles current research opportunities with UT faculty.
Organized by the Office of Undergraduate Research, the presentations were hosted by over 20 different colleges or research units. “Research is a key part of academic culture at UT,” said Student Senate of College Councils spokesman Michael Morton to the Daily Texan. “We want to emphasize how important research is to the University and how students can get involved.” Another student commented that she appreciated talking about research with faculty and advisors in an informal setting.

Held during the middle of Research Week, this festive, outdoor event provides a single place for departments, colleges, and student organizations to present their undergraduate research activities, share opportunities for student involvement, and mingle over refreshments. 41 students from seven colleges and schools presented posters based on findings from a wide range of fields. In addition to the student presentations, 31 colleges, research units, and student organizations provided information about ways for students to get involved. Students commented that they loved having the research staff and resources together in one location.
