Publishing & Presenting Student Work

Communicating your findings to others is a crucial and exciting aspect of research. Undergraduate researchers often present their work by:

  • Presenting a scholarly poster at a conference or symposium.
  • Orally presenting at a conference or symposium.
  • Publishing a research paper in a journal.
  • Exhibiting creative work such as a portfolio, film screening, or performance.

There are opportunities to present your work both on campus and at the regional or national level. When exploring possibilities, your faculty supervisor is a valuable resource. Ask if there are regional or national conferences or other venues specific to your discipline where you might be able to present your work. Also, be sure to talk to your professors and departmental academic advisors about opportunities in your college or school.
