In addition to serving as the home for students exploring majors at the university, the School of Undergraduate Studies provides numerous programs for students enrolled in any of UT’s colleges or schools that create a small-college experience at a major research university. Any UT student who is unsure of his or her major can make advising appointments to discuss options.

The Vick Center’s career counseling services are also open to all students and help students identify possible careers that suit their interests and backgrounds.

The Sanger Learning Center offers tutoring for difficult courses and staff to help you hone study skills.

In First-year Interest Groups (FIGs), small groups of like-minded incoming students take classes and help each other adjust to college-level academics and student life.

The Freshman Reading Round-Up is a two-hour event that introduces small groups of incoming students to books selected and discussed with UT’s top faculty.

All first-year UT students take a Signature Course. These rigorous interdisciplinary courses connect incoming students with top-level faculty and help students uncover new interests as they adjust to college-level academics.
