Whether you’re a student, faculty member, academic unit, or organization, there are plenty of ways for you to get involved in Research Week 2012. If you have questions about how you can get involved, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Research.
Students
Research Week is all about showcasing the exciting research and creative work that undergraduates are pursuing every day at UT Austin, and there are various ways students can get involved.
- Attend Research Week events. Whether you want to learn more about research in a particular field, hear from other students about the research they’ve done, or find opportunities and resources for getting started on your own project, Research Week has an event for you! As Research Week (April 16-20, 2012) gets closer, find Events that connect with your interests. Note that some events take place during the weeks before and after Research Week.
- Present your research or creative work. Research Week is a great opportunity for you to share your research or creative work with others. Presenting your work at a poster session or oral symposium gives you the chance to receive feedback on your work, and it gives you an impressive credential as you’re applying to graduate schools or jobs. Check with your academic advisor or your faculty mentor to see if there are opportunities to present your work at an event hosted by your college or department. If your college does not offer any opportunities, consider participating in the poster session at the Longhorn Research Bazaar on April 18, 2012. The deadline to submit an abstract for the Longhorn Research Bazaar poster session has been extended to March 2, 2012, and can be submitted here. Deadlines for college and departmental vary, and you should contact your academic advisor for details.
- Host a table for your student organization at the Longhorn Research Bazaar. Are you part of a student organization that connects with undergraduate research or creative activity? Host a table at the Longhorn Research Bazaar on Wednesday, April 18, 11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Held on the Gregory Gym Plaza, the Bazaar is a festive event where departments, colleges, programs, and student organizations from across campus highlight their activities and opportunities for student involvement. Participating in the Bazaar offers you the chance to publicize your organization to other students, hand out informational materials, and showcase the work your organization does. The deadline to reserve a table has been extended to March 2, 2012. Register here to reserve your table.
