Dr. Michael Brandl is a Senior Lecturer at the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin where he teaches managerial economics. He also regularly gives lectures in the Executive Education program at McCombs and is a frequent guest lecturer at the LBJ School of Public Policy at UT.
Dr. Brandl’s research primarily focuses on the role of financial markets in economic growth and development. He has also published articles dealing with banking regulation, labor markets, and business cycle fluctuations. He and his work have been recently quoted in a variety of media outlets including the CBS Evening News, Business Week, New York Times and The Washington Post.
Dr. Brandl has been a Visiting Professor at the Helsinki School of Economics and serves on the Board of Directors and is a Visiting International Professor at the Universidad Tecnica Privada de Santa Cruz, in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. At UT Professor Brandl has won many teaching awards including the prestigious Eyes of Texas Award.
