Signature Course Proposal Guidelines

Below are some tips to help you with composing your proposal. If you are a returning faculty, see our returning faculty guidelines page for helpful hints.

Instructor Information
Make sure you include the correct UTEID of the person who will be teaching the course. If you are a proxy filling in the information for a faculty member, make sure you have the faculty member’s UTEID. Faculty applying for the Signature Course should have a tenured or tenure track appointment or hold the title of Sr. Lecturer or Distinguished Sr. Lecturer.

Course Description
Please keep your description to a few lines and gear it to very young, inquisitive students. We will use it in promoting the course on our website.

Proposal Questions
This section was created so faculty have an opportunity to express how they will incorporate the Signature Course requirements into their course. These answers should be brief and should not require too much time on the part of the faculty member filling out the proposal form.

Review procedure and Due Dates
The Signature Course proposal deadline for 2009 is midnight on October 5. Decisions on proposals should be completed by mid-November. If you have not heard a response from UGS by November 10, 2009, please contact the Signature Course office at 471-4421.
