Prospective Students

A Signature Course is designed to introduce you to the best UT has to offer and, at the same time, to help you develop skills at the college level in research, writing, speaking, and discussion. Faculty are distinguished, while subjects are both interdisciplinary and contemporary. As a Signature Course student, you will become acquainted through coursework with some of the gems of the University, among them the Harry Ransom Center, the Blanton Museum of Art, and the LBJ Library and Museum. Signature Courses can be either in a seminar format (18 students) or a large format (50-200 students). Students will also attend at least one University Lecture Series.

Though all students planning to graduate under the 2010-2012 Undergraduate Catalog or later will be required to complete a First-Year Signature Course, students planning to graduate under the 2008-2010 Undergraduate Catalog are only required to complete the course if they are earning a degree from one of the following colleges:

School of Architecture
Red McCombs School of Business
College of Communication
College of Education
Jackson School of Geosciences
College of Liberal Arts
School of Nursing
