As an outreach assistant at the Sanger Learning Center, Dinusha gives students the tools they need to be successful by leading workshops on academic skills.
“The great thing about presenting to diverse groups is that, together, we build a sense of community where we can learn from one another.”
Mani began working with the Sanger Learning Center as a preceptor in Fall 2012 in his PLUS-supported genetics course. Now as a senior preceptor, he guides new preceptors in their work with students.
“I came here thinking that I would be the one helping and guiding other students, but I’m thankful at how much and how frequently I’ve actually been the beneficiary of such an experience.”
For the past year, Mark Babin has tutored students in chemistry and physics at the Sanger Center.
“I don’t think that there is anything more satisfying than seeing something click for a student.”
Brianna began working as a calculus tutor in fall 2012. Since then, she’s helped countless student reach their academic potential at UT.
“If you understand a subject, why not pass that knowledge on and help others understand it as well?”
Insia became a peer academic coach at the Sanger Learning Center in fall 2011 to help students learn valuable study skills.
“It feels great when the student leaves the program having learned study skills that will help them in their entire career as a student.”
For the past two year, Mansi has been a Sanger Learning Center peer academic coach helping students master important study techniques.
“Take advantage of the resources available to you, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.”
