Tests

There are four tests approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board: THEA, ASSET, COMPASS, and ACCUPLACER. UT Austin accepts all four tests.

If you attended a Texas public college for dual-credit while you were in high school or are transferring from a Texas public college, you may have been required to take one of the above tests.

Your scores should be listed on your college transcript. It is your responsibility to ask your college to send an official transcript to UT Austin. Official test scores also may be sent to

We also accept faxed scores if they are sent directly from the college you attended. Our fax number is 512-232-8418.

If you took THEA or THEA Quick Test (or TASP) and did not have the scores sent to UT Austin, let us know so we can retrieve the scores through National Evaluation Systems.
