Most Texas public colleges and universities administer one or more of the above tests. You should contact your local college if you have already taken one of the tests and need to send us the scores, or if you plan to register for their test. COMPASS Test is administered via computer. Passing scores are:

• Reading: 81 out of a possible 100
• Algebra: 39 out of a possible 100
• Writing: 6 on essay, or combined scores of 59 on writing & 5 on the essay out of a possible 8

ACCUPLACER Test is administered via computer. Passing scores are:

• Reading: 78 out of a possible 120
• Algebra: 63 out of a possible 120
• Writing: 6 on essay, or combined scores of 80 on sentence Skills and 5 on the essay out of a possible 8

ASSET Test is administered via paper and pencil. Passing scores are:

• Reading: 41 out of a possible 53
• Algebra: 38 out of a possible 55
• Writing: 6 on essay, or combined scores of 40 on writing and 5 on the essay out of a possible 8
