There are three ways to take the TSI Assessment. Please be sure to read through each option and choose the best one for you. Contact the TSI Office if you would like more clarification or need help choosing the best option for you.

Test at your High School

Take the TSI Assessment while you are in high school. This is the best option and can often be done at no charge to you. Visit your college and career counselor for more information on testing while in high school and sending us your scores.

Test Online

You may test online at home on your computer for a $25 fee. You must have access to a computer with a microphone and a webcam, as this is how the online proctor will monitor you as you test. Please complete the TSI Assessment Request Form and choose the online option. You will NOT be sent a testing voucher unless you have completed the pre-assessment activity.

Test Remotely at a Community College

You may test at a local Texas community college. The remote location may charge a proctor fee for using their site. Some colleges may allow their students to test for a lower cost or for free. Contact the TSI office here at UT for more information. Please complete the TSI Assessment Request Form and choose the remote option.

Please note, the TSI Assessment is no longer offered during orientation. If you do not complete the TSIA before you arrive at orientation, you will not be able to register for classes.

If you are not satisfied with your scores from a previous attempt, you may retake the Assessment. It is strongly recommended that you set aside time for additional study before retesting. It is unlikely that your score will improve greatly without additional review and study. Please visit the Pre-Assessment Activity and Test Prep page for resources and study material.

Students must complete the TSI Pre-Assessment Activity before they can successfully take the TSI Assessment. You will NOT be sent a testing voucher unless you have completed the pre-assessment activity. Access the Pre-Assessment Activity:
