Purpose:
The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and promoting active international engagement by the United States. As one of the world’s leading think tanks specializing in international affairs, the Endowment conducts programs of research, discussion, publication and education. The Junior Fellows Program at the Carnegie Endowment is designed to provide a substantive work experience for students who have a serious career interest in the area of international affairs. Approximately 8-10 students will be hired to work at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington, DC on a full-time basis for a period of one year.

Purpose:
The Institute of International Education (IIE), in partnership with educational organizations in selected countries, conducts an annual competition on college campuses to identify 150 of the most accomplished second-year students for the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program. The program recognizes their outstanding achievements and abilities in a public ceremony and awards each Global Leader $3,000. Seventy-five of the Global Leaders will be selected on the basis of personal interviews to represent the group at the Global Leadership Institute in New York City in July 2008. The Global Leadership Institute will offer this select group of students from around the world an opportunity to collaboratively examine important issues such as the new media, ethical leadership, and leadership styles in the non-profit and academic as well as the public and private sectors.
