The first step to joining the UTeach Natural Sciences program is to attend an information session. Students who have attended an information session are welcome to meet one-on-one with a UTeach advisor. Appointments are not available during registration, so be sure to get to a session. Students may call (512) 232.2770 to make an appointment with a UTeach advisor and view additional information.
The program is open to current UT Austin undergraduates, transfer students and even degree-holders. Students do not have to be in the College of Natural Sciences to join UTeach. A 2.5 GPA is required to advance into later courses and for certification. Students may begin the program with less than a 2.5, bringing their GPA up as they progress through the program. Students with less than a 2.5 should realize that they may not be allowed to finish the program until their GPA meets the requirement. A UTeach advisor can help students with their options.
Prospective University of Texas at Austin students should visit
to learn about the application process and how to declare a major.
All UTeach courses are offered in both the fall and spring semesters with the exception of one required course for middle-grades certifiers. EDC 371-10 is offered in the Fall semesters only. Some content coursework in math and science may be offered only one semester per year. UTeach advisors can help students plan. View teaching degree plans.
