Current UT students interested in transferring to the Moody College of Communication may submit an internal transfer application, which is open every February (for summer/fall admission) and September (for spring admission). To apply, students submit an online request form and upload a resume into the application in addition to a statement of purpose.
Students are notified of the committee's decision in late May/early June (for summer/fall admission) or early January (for spring admission). Students must attend an information session before they can make an advising appointment with the Internal Transfer Advisor.
You must have an overall UT GPA of at least 2.25 and a Communication GPA of at least 2.0 in order to be considered for transfer into the college. Priority is given to applicants who have successfully completed some RTF coursework, in particular, RTF 305. Students who wish to add RTF as a second major (or change their current second major) must have 30 hours in-residence and minimum UT and communication GPAs of 2.75.
Students who are not already enrolled in the Moody College of Communication may apply only twice to change their major and must submit the application within their first three long-semesters at UT.

Undergraduate students in RTF learn a broad range of media production and screenwriting skills and examine a variety of media issues, including critical and cultural studies, communication technology and policy analysis, international communication, gender and sexuality issues, ethnic and minority studies, and more. Students graduate with a solid education in skills and theory, technical and historical knowledge, and creative and critical abilities.
