As the gallery manager, I do everything from accounting to installing artwork. I ship and receive artwork; correspond with artists, galleries, and museums; and also give tours to visiting groups of collectors and local art and art history classes. My job is constantly changing and growing, and I'm always learning something new.
Undergrad degree: Art History
Favorite class in college: American Art 1960-present
College to career: My degree gave me a strong foundation in art history, and also helped me to realize that I didn't want to continue in the academic field. While I still want get a graduate degree, it was important for me to intern, volunteer and work to help me decide exactly what I wanted to do as my "career."
Career influences: While I was in school, I was constantly interning. In my opinion, that's the best way to figure out what you like to do, and more importantly what you don't like to do! Not every internship is going to be right for you, but you'll gain important experiences and meet people in your field of interest. My internships played a vital role in getting my current job, so I can't encourage interning enough!
