Our interactive, mobile-friendly calendar enables you to browse events by topics, audience, location, and more, helping you stay up-to-date with all of UT Austin's many concerts, festivals, games, lectures, panels, films, and more.
Featured events, which appear on the UT Austin homepage, are chosen to represent a wide range of colleges, schools and activities and demonstrate the depth and breadth of the university. In order to be selected, events must be submitted via the event calendar at least 10 days in advance of the event and be open to the public. Featured events must also be accompanied by high-quality imagery.
Event Listing Emails
University Communications sends out a daily event listing email during the long semesters and a weekly email during the summer. Staff and Faculty may manage their subscription to the event emails via UT Direct. Students recieve event emails as part of their subscription to all "Informational" messages.
Using the UT Events Calendar
The UT Events Calendar service is available to everyone in The University of Texas at Austin community. A UT EID is required for faculty, staff and students to submit events.
Event submissions will be reviewed and edited for publication by University Communications, and should meet the following criteria:
Event is sponsored by an academic or administrative unit or by an officially sanctioned university organization (including university sponsored and registered student organizations).
Event is of wide interest to The University of Texas at Austin community (i.e., not a regular department/organization business meeting).
Event complies with the university's Responsible Use of Information Technology Policy.
Event does not contain any offensive or inappropriate content.
Note for Students: If you are submitting an event for an official student organization, please go to Hornslink to submit that event. Instructions on how to submit an event using Hornslink can be found on the Dean of Students website.
How to Submit an Event
The below guidance is meant to serve as a resource to UT Austin users, but Localist is ultimately the primary expert on their services. Localist's own documentation is available here: http://support.localist.com.
- Log in at calendar.utexas.edu.
- Click “Submit an Event” on the right side of the screen.
- Fill in the “Add a public event” form. Additional instructions are provided next to each field.
To check on your event once it has been submitted, click on “Me” in the toolbar next to the calendar search button. On the bottom right, you can see a list of your events that are currently in the queue.
If your event has been approved: You will receive a notice from Localist via email and your event will be removed from the “Pending” queue. You may submit edits to the event by finding the event in Localist and clicking “Request a change to this event.” These changes will be be approved or denied through the normal review process.
If your event has been rejected: You will receive a notice from Localist via email and your event will be removed from the “Pending” queue. You may also receive a note from the calendar admins as to why your event was rejected. Once rejected, an event cannot be retrieved from the system.
