Join the African American Culture Committee along with Black Student Alliance, Jester East Resident Assistants and Student African American Brotherhood for a month-long celebration of Black History, Black Culture and the advancement of Black Americans.

Know Your Roots game show with Black Student Alliance

The Student Events Center African American Culture Committee and Black Student Alliance take on the popular TV game show Family Feud with, "Know Your Roots". In an effort to educate students on the experiences of African American students on the University of Texas campus. Come out to the SAC Ballroom at 7pm on February 10, 2013 for a fun and exciting opportunity to learn about Black History & Black Culture at the University of Texas at Austin.

AACCinema Presents: "When I Rise": the documentary of UT alum and civil rights activist Barbara Smith Conrad 

The Student Events Center African American Culture Committee and Jester East Resident Assistants present, AACCinema featuring, "When I Rise, the Story of Barbara Smith Conrad". Barbara Smith Conrad is an American operatic mezzo-soprano of international acclaim. In 1957, while a student at UT, it was discovered that she was removed from her role as Dido in the campus rendition of Dido and Aeneas because of her race. This film documents UT Alum Barbara Smith Conrad's fight against discrimination and racial prejudice. 


Tuesday, February 26th - SAC Black Box Theatre from 6:00 - 8:00pm

Black to Business: Job & Networking Fair with Student African American Brotherhood

Come by the Student Activity Center Black Box Theatre to network with UT Alumni and Business professionals from all over Texas on Tuesday, February 26 from 6pm until 8pm. The event will promote students enriching their educational experience by networking with those in their future occupational field and encourage them to mingle with business professionals. So, polish up your resumes and put on your best business casual attire. We'll see you in the Black Box Theater on Tuesday, February 26!
