Hindu Students Association presents Navratri

The Campus Events + Entertainment Events CoSponsorship Board is proud to cosponsor Navratri.

Navratri translated into English is "nine nights." It is a cultural festival celebrated all over the world, especially in India, to commemorate women's contribution to society and the victory of good over evil. In this fun, light-hearted atmosphere, we would like to educate others about Navratri and the underlying theme of the importance of women to Hindu and Indian culture.

To celebrate Navratri, people come together to celebrate life through various community activities, including participating in traditional dances such as garba and dandiya raas. Garba is a graceful dance performed in a circle, often around a centerpiece of flowers and lamps. Dandiya raas is a fast-paced dance traditionally performed with colorfully decorated dandiyas (sticks). The night will culminate with the more modern dance form called bhangra in which everyone dances with their hands in the air!

*Bring your IDs for free dandiya stick rental and money for Indian food served by Teji's! This event is 8pm-12am in RecSports Center (RSC) 2.200.
