
- Who may enter TUFF?
Any UT Austin student registered for the Spring 2013 semester.
- How many times and where will my short be shown?
The short submitted will be shown once, on Thursday, February 28 in the Texas Union Theatre (UNB 2.228) during the Texas Union Film Festival.
- What are the content criteria for the shorts?
The committee will review each submission and select the best shorts to fit the film competition. Content will be accepted/rejected at the committee’s discretion. The committee will follow the framework set by the MPAA, and will accept shorts they decide are acceptable up to the rated “R” level. Please refer to the MPAA’s description of rated “R” criteria.
- What are the time constraints for the short?
Films must be under ten minutes in length. Exceptions may be granted on a case by case basis. Contact the Film Committee at studentevents@universityunions.utexas.edu for more information.
- May I submit more than one film?
Each student can submit more than one film, but only one may be selected to be screened.
- Where may I film the short?
The short must be filmed off-campus, or previously made for an academic course.
- Is there a cash prize?
Though there will be awards recognizing the winners of the film competition, there will not be a cash prize awarded.
- How old can the short be?
Shorts may be up to two (2) years old. The Film Committee will not accept shorts made during high school.
- What info must be turned in with the short?
The submission form and the short film in a white envelope will be required for submission. The envelope should have the director or submitter’s name on the outside, and the short, whether on a USB drive or DVD/CD, should be sealed inside the envelope.
- Where should the short be turned in?
The short should be turned in to the Student Events Center Office, UNB 4.312.
- Who are the judges?
The judges are still to be determined, but are mostly affiliated with the RTF department.
- Whose property is this short?
The short is still your property, but is being shown by the University with your consent (as designated on the submission form).
- Will I get the short back?
The shorts will be available for pickup starting Friday, March 1 at the Student Events Center Office (UNB 4.312). Your UT ID must be shown to pick up your materials.
- How long do I have to pick up my USB Drive or DVD/CD?
The shorts will be available for pickup starting Friday, March 2, and the media will be held until the last day of classes (May 3, 2013). They will be disposed of, after then.
