National Campus Sustainability Day
October 24, 2007
Facilities Services and Project Management and Construction Services hosted a UTakeCharge table at the October 24, 2007 National Campus Sustainability Day festival, sponsored by the UT Sustainability Network and its umbrella organization, Campus Environmental Center. The event provided students and faculty an opportunity to see University projects that promote sustainable activities.
UTakeCharge joined the Division of Housing and Food Service, Parking and Transportation Services and 13 campus organizations in UT Austin's first-time participation in this national event. Held on the East Mall, the festival provided an opportunity for students and faculty to see how UT Austin is actively engaging in and promoting sustainable activities, from high-tech energy efficiency in our power plant and recycling to award-winning water conservation measures and LEED-certified green building.
The UTakeCharge display highlighted the program's water, steam and lighting retrofit projects, outlining the reduced consumption of resources that these projects will achieve. Passers-by received a thermometer magnet with the UTakeCharge logo.
