This portfolio plática by Gloria Cisneros Lenoir discusses the academic skills of newcomer immigrant high school students in Central Texas. Substantial growth of minority and immigrant population groups since 1990 has occurred and is projected to continue over the next 20 years. There has been limited research on newcomer immigrant high school students, and this plática is based on a study of such students.
