Latino Male Symposium

Project MALES (Mentoring to Achieve Latino Educational Success), a new DDCE initiative, is hosting a Latino Male Symposium at The University of Texas at Austin on Friday, June 24, 2011. Latino males have among the lowest high school graduation and post-secondary enrollment rates in the country. Please join those in attendance for an important discussion of the growing educational crisis facing Latino males and local communities. Featured speakers will include local and national experts such as Dr. Shaun Harper (University of Pennsylvania), Dr. Luis Ponjuan (University of Florida), Alphonso Rincon (FACE), Sandy Alcala (Con Mi Madre), and John Kaulfus (UTSA), among many other educators from K-12, higher education, and community-based organizations working directly with Latino male youth of all ages.
