I am an historian of Latin America specializing on postcolonial Mexico. My research focuses on the interplay between Catholic lived religion and postrevolutionary state formation under Mexico’s single-party priísta regime after 1940. Yet my wide-ranging social science interests span multiple continents and time periods; I have long been interested in the natural sciences as well. Besides scholarly pursuits, I enjoy travel, photography, boating, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Colonial and National Latin America; Nineteenth- and Twentieth-Century Mexico; Mexican Church-State Relations; Catholic Lived Religion; Postrevolutionary Mexican State Formation; Priísta Mexico; Medieval, Early Modern, and Modern Europe; Antiquity (Greece, Rome, and the Near East); United States History; Religious Studies; International History, Politics, and Diplomacy.
