Brian McNeil is a PhD candidate in the History Department at the University of Texas at Austin and a fellow at the Clements Center for Historian, Strategy, and Statecraft. He is an historian of American foreign relations, specializing in the relationship between humanitarianism, human rights, and foreign policy. His dissertation looks at the ways that transnational humanitarian activism during the Nigerian Civil War affected decision making in the West. He received his B.A. from Auburn University and his M.A. from Mississippi State University.
