Carlos Bowles

Carlos Eric Bowles has worked in higher education for 21 years. He currently serves as director for UTeach-Liberal Arts and the Rapoport Service Scholarship Program. Carlos also serves as assistant professor of instruction teaching courses on leadership, civic engagement, and ethics at The University of Texas at Austin. His recognitions include the Texas Exes Alumni James Vick Award for Academic Advising, the Liberal Arts Council for Outstanding Advisor, and a National Academic Advising Association 2013 Outstanding Institution Advising Program Merit Award. Carlos most recently served his community as vice president of programs with the Pflugerville Education Foundation. Carlos holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from UTSA, a master’s degree in higher education administration from The University of Texas at Austin and is ABD in educational psychology at The University of Texas at Austin with research interests including phenomenology, motivation, and cultural aspects of learning. Carlos spends his free time with his wife and kids and his favorite pastime is playing music.

Amy Siever 

Senior Academic Advisor

Amy Siever joined the UTeach-Liberal Arts program in Fall 2022 as the Senior Academic Advisor. Since completing her B.A. in History and M.S. in Higher Education Administration at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, she has served students by coordinating admission and recruitment programs at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Ball State University and Milwaukee Area Technical College. Most recently she served as a manager at a Philadelphia non-profit supporting AmeriCorps Members mentoring elementary and middle school students. Amy is passionate about cultivating a culture of inclusion and supporting students through professional and personal growth. In her free time Amy enjoys hiking with her dog.

Kaitlyn Crawford

Kaitlyn Crawford joined the UTeach-Liberal Arts team in 2022. Since studying English and American Studies at The University of Texas at Austin, she’s spent years encouraging a love of learning in others. She’s been a teacher, bookseller and event planner, working with organizations like San Antonio Book Festival, BookPeople, and Half Price Books. With certifications in secondary language arts and English as a second language, she was most recently a middle school teacher in Round Rock ISD. She’s excited to celebrate and support UT students as they begin their teaching journey.

Marissa Blakely

Marissa Blakely joined the UTeach-Liberal Arts program in Fall 2023. Since completing her B.S. in Communication and B.S.B.A in Marketing at Western Carolina University, she has worked in higher education as a communications assistant working with students and staff to promote student-athletes. While pursing her Masters in Business Administration at High Point University, she served as the graduate assistant with student affairs in the office of sorority and fraternity life. She is passionate about contributing to students growth and development and supporting them to become inspiring professionals. In her free time she enjoys traveling around the world and spending time with her family.
