Dr. Iverson earned a B.S. from Stanford University; a Ph.D. at California Institute of Technology, and did postdoctoral work at Scripps Research Institute. Some of his recent research accomplishments include: 1) Development of two novel technologies for extremely high throughput antibody and enzyme engineering (patents pending). The first of these involves a novel bacterial surface expression and fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) strategy (see Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci., USA (2000) 97, 2029-2034 for a recent example), and the second involves a new technology for extremely high throughput mutagenesis that does not use cloning (see Protein Eng. (1999) 12, 349-356 for a recent example). 2) production of the first abiotic folding molecule that does not depend on hydrogen bonds for structure (see J. Am. Chem. Soc., 1999, 121, 2639-2640 for a recent example). 3) The creation of a novel patented system of DNA binding molecules based on an entirely new DNA binding motif (see Chemistry and Biology, (2000), 7, 1-8 for a recent example).
