Who We Are

Working at The University of Texas at Austin

Becoming an employee at The University of Texas at Austin is about changing the world – your world included! As a staff member, you have access to a wealth of resources and opportunities that are educational, enriching, even entertaining.

Each week, you can attend lectures and presentations on campus by resident faculty, visiting experts and national and international newsmakers. If you enjoy theater, dance, opera or Broadway musicals you have opportunities to indulge your passion in a variety of venues.

On your lunch break, enjoy Poetry on the Plaza at the Harry Ransom Center or visit one of UT Austin’s 17 libraries and museums that include Latin American, Renaissance and Baroque art. The museums also house extensive collections of photographs, literary manuscripts, historical documents and natural science specimens.

Become a Longhorn fan and go to athletic events for free or at a discount using the Longhorn All Sports Pass. It won’t be long before you know what it means to Hook ‘em! Discounted employee memberships with the university’s Division of Recreational Sports are another great opportunity. Membership entitles you to use both on- and off-campus recreational facilities, including 500,000 square feet of indoor and 40 acres of outdoor activity space.

Use your university ID card to ride any UT shuttle or Capital Metro bus for free. The UT Shuttle service, the largest university shuttle system in the country, provides 16 routes throughout the city, serving over 7.5 million passengers annually. Capital Metro buses, including the Airport Flyer, provide 130,000 passenger trips per day. You’ll find using the bus is not only an easy, cost-effective way to get around town, it helps you avoid parking hassles during large events such as the Trail of Lights, UT footballs games, Austin City Limits Festival and South by Southwest.

Whether your job involves direct contact with students, supporting faculty members in innovative research and educational programs, or keeping the organization moving forward, working at the university means you are not only part of a world-class academic institution, but a very exciting and diverse community as well.
