As part of the Web Central Services Retirement project, the ITS website will be retired. Information about IT services will be replaced by two new sites, IT@UT and UT ServiceNow, and ITS departmental information will be migrated to a new location. All changes will be completed by 7/19/2016.

Automated Attendants

Overview

An auto-attendant can route multiple simultaneous phone calls to the appropriate person and may also be used as a "back up" to your receptionist if the phone line is busy or unanswered. Users can turn the auto-attendant on and off using their phone's call-forwarding feature.

Features

  • Answer multiple phone lines, and transfer calls to the appropriate faculty and staff phones
  • Present callers with a menu of options to choose from (including submenus, if needed)
  • Play a directory of faculty/staff phone numbers that allows callers to transfer to any UT extension (5-digit phone number) they enter
  • Transfer callers directly into a voice mailbox (with or without playing the mailbox's own greeting)
  • Play pre-recorded answers to frequently asked questions
  • Play different greetings and offer different sets of options based on time-of-day, day-of-week, or holidays
