As part of the Web Central Services Retirement project, the ITS website will be retired. Information about IT services will be replaced by two new sites, IT@UT and UT ServiceNow, and ITS departmental information will be migrated to a new location. All changes will be completed by 7/28/2016.

Activation: How many times can I activate a product?

Microsoft product activation uses the hardware configuration of your computer to tie your unique product key to your actual computer. Once you have activated a Microsoft product on your computer, you will not be able to activate it on any other computer1. Typically, you can activate a product up to 10 times on one computer. After you have reached the allowed number of activations, you may have to activate by phone and speak with Microsoft for further assistance.

1 Microsoft Office suites and applications (e.g., Office Professional, FrontPage, Publisher, etc.) are licensed to run on one desktop computer and on a second portable computer for your exclusive use only. Office installation media should allow activations on two computers.
