As part of the Web Central Services Retirement project, the ITS website will be retired. Information about IT services will be replaced by two new sites, IT@UT and UT ServiceNow, and ITS departmental information will be migrated to a new location. All changes will be completed by 7/28/2016.

Common Good Email Strategy for Campus

As approved by IT governance, the Common Good email strategy for campus is to offer students, alumni, and retirees "UTmail, powered by Google." To date, 66,000+ members of the University community now have "" email addresses since the launch in April, 2011.

For faculty and staff, Information Technology Services (ITS) upgraded the Austin Exchange Mail Service (AEMS) last summer. Everyone now using "" email has an expanded 2 GB of email storage at no cost, an updated Outlook Web Access that works in more browsers and marked performance improvements over previous versions.

ITS is in the process of retiring the University Mailbox Service (UMBS) by this summer. Web-based UMBS migration tools are available to help local IT staff migrate faculty and staff UMBS accounts to AEMS or another email service and retain their UMBS email address.

John Lovelace, Project Manager for the UTmail roll-out and UMBS retirement, presented an overview session for campus-wide IT staff to discuss the approach and timeline for UMBS retirement. You can view the session on demand for additional information.
