ASMP 2.0 Update

The Administrative Systems Modernization Program (ASMP 2.0) Town Hall Meeting on July 29, 2014, focused on the program’s vision and purpose, team membership, future design and implementation activities, and key milestones. Renee Wallace, Associate Vice President for Administrative Systems Modernization, presented an overview of the program and discussed the ASMP 2.0 Guiding Principles which define and direct the program:

  • Communicate frequently, clearly and directly
  • Involve and support stakeholders
  • Maintain strong governance
  • Challenge the status quo
  • Implement standard functionality and business processes
  • Apply enterprise thinking

Renee also offered suggestions on ways to better comprehend and navigate the full measure of change inherent in this campus-wide effort. Then the Campus Engagement Panel discussed the opportunities ahead to engage. If you were unable to attend the Town Hall Meeting, you can view the webcast of the event. Among other things, you will see that engagement throughout the program is key.

As the panel emphasized, there are multiple ways to stay informed and involved in this element of the Transforming UT initiative. You can view the ASMP 2.0 website for up-to-date information about all the ASMP 2.0 projects and to sign-up for the ASMP 2.0 mailing list. The list will regularly send information about the advisory groups, subject matter expert (SME) groups and the Readiness Coordinator program.

ASMP 2.0, which is targeted for completion in 2020, includes the implementation of Workday, the new cloud-based human resources/payroll, finance and procurement solution for UT Austin and several projects designed to modernize the University’s administrative systems, business processes, data management, and technical architecture. Under the auspices of the Business Services Committee of IT Governance, ASMP 2.0 is the fulfillment of the Administrative Systems Master Plan (ASMP 1.0), which was endorsed by IT governance in March, 2012.
