Student Representative, Term: 2012 —2013
Veronica Chidester was born in Katy, Texas. She attended The University of Texas at Austin for undergrad and is now a 3L at UT’s School of Law. Throughout undergrad she interned at the Texas Legislature. She was also the managing partner of a consulting corporation, which worked primarily to further client goals with legislative and local government.
Before attending law school, Veronica spent four years working for Travis County. She began by working for a County Commissioner and then went on to work for the Intergovernmental Relations Office when it was established.
Veronica has exhibited a strong interest in advocacy at The University of Texas School of Law. She has competed in several intramural mock trial competitions and hopes to become a member of the interscholastic mock trial team. She worked at American Gateways doing immigration and asylum work. Last summer, she worked at the Travis County Attorney’s Office. She hopes to continue to become a better advocate this fall while taking the Criminal Defense Clinic.
Outside of law school, Veronica enjoys running and dancing ballet folklórico. She as excited to run her first half marathon in under two hours and has just signed up for her first full marathon. She was the President of The University of Texas at Austin Ballet Folkórico student organization as well as a professional company dancer for Roy Lozano’s Ballet Folklórico de Texas. Her greatest joy came from teaching a class of girls, ages 4-6, the basics of folklórico and its cultural foundations.
