    Mock Interviews - 1L Sign Up Continues

    Each spring the CSO presents a Mock Interview Program where attorneys come on campus to provide mock interviews with 1L students prior to Spring OCI and Public Service Career Fair.

    1Ls may now schedule two more interviews (for a total of three overall). Scheduling is a on a first-come, first-served basis. If interview slots remain available, the CSO will notify 2Ls and 3Ls that they may register as well. .

    Advanced Training for Mediators

    This two day, highly interactive training will provide mediators with the additional knowledge and skills to resolve the most difficult conflicts. Despite best efforts in mediation, parties and their lawyers often ‘get stuck’. This course will provide you with new perspectives and techniques which will increase your effectiveness as a mediator and enhance your practice.

    What you will learn:

    •Cognitive barriers which impede settlement •Dealing with highly emotional and difficult people and how to convert them to friends of the process •How to rewire destructive negotiations and get them back on a forward track •Specific techniques to maximize the efficiency and productivity of the joint session •Ways to improve the use of private sessions and caucusing •Methods to increase value and impact of pre-mediation preparations •Effective post mediation practices

    Pro Bono in January

    For the fourth year in a row, a large contingent of our students and several of their professors will devote part of their winter break to providing pro bono legal services to underrepresented populations in the Valley. Please join our students and their attorney-supervisors for a luncheon from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the McAllen Country Club, 615 Wichita Avenue, on Thursday, January 10 in the Ballroom.
