Texas Center for Actual Innocence

Directors and Staff

TCAI has three officers, each of whom also is a co-director of the Actual Innocence Clinic at The University of Texas School of Law: William P. Allison, clinical professor, is president; Gerry Morris, a private practitioner and adjunct professor, is vice-president; and David A. Sheppard, also in private practice and an adjunct professor, is secretary/treasurer. All three are board certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Tiffany Dowling is the staff attorney for TCAI.

Robert O. Dawson, Bryant Smith Chair in Law at the UT School of Law, an original founder, director, and the academic and inspirational head of TCAI, died in February 2005. His presence, leadership and incredible talent for teaching are profoundly missed by his colleagues and students.
